Otvorena platforma - www.poplave.ba

Želimo ubrzati i optimizirati proces prikupljanja, distribucije i korištenja pomoći u novcu, robi i radovima.

Kako ćemo to uraditi?

Who are we?
We are a group of people and organizations who have (just like all of you)  been helping citizens affected by the floods since day one and who have experienced first-hand the troubling lack of information and coordination of rescue and aid activities. State and other official mechanisms that should have acted have failed. We can no longer rely on them and don’t want to depend on them.

What do we want?
We want to enable affected citizens to advertise their needs and to confirm that they have received what has been designated for them.
We want to speed up and optimize the process of gathering, distributing and using donations in money, goods and labor.
We want to enable organizations and individuals who are in the field to avoid overlap, while at the same time preventing the possibility of leaving some areas uncovered.
We want to enable donors to provide the aid most needed and to receive feedback about regular and fair distribution.
All information must be available to everyone! The right to information is a basic human right.

Why?
Because available IT technologies make it possible for a system like this to be a service to citizens in need of urgent, concrete and targeted help.
Because nobody benefits when several trucks come to the same place with the same goods while other places are being neglected.
Because it is not necessary for ten teams to set out to evacuate the same person over the course of three days just because information is being shared on social networks and both those sharing it and those reading it don’t know that it is obsolete.
Because we mustn’t allow resources and donations to remain unused, badly used or misused.

How are we going to do that?
By combining our efforts and knowledge, citizens living at home and abroad, donors and organizations on the field, and citizens who will receive aid in goods, money and labor can create a public information system that is reliable, quick and correct.

Whose platform is this?
This platform does not have an owner. A group of activists, individuals and organizations started this platform and began adding initial information but claims no right to it. This is a free public service which nobody owns or will ever own. We strive to cooperate with all existing web sites and Facebook groups, the Twitter community, amateur radio operators, the media, and domestic and international organizations. We are working on a platform that can import various types of data in different standards.

Whose data is this?
All data is open and all content is published under a Creative Commons license and belongs to the public.

What are we doing?
All together, we are gathering, sorting and publishing information about the situation and needs in areas affected by floods across Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as information about gathering, distributing and providing aid and about how that aid is being received and used.

How is the data being verified?
Everyone who enters data makes an effort to verify it beforehand to the best of their abilities. The final verification is performed by the public. Any user of the platform who has access to better, more accurate and up-to-date information can register and make a correction or send a message with the correct information to a registered user.

How can you help?
Whether you are a citizen who has been affected by the floods, an organization that gathers and distributes aid or a donor, you can use this platform as your tool. Enter data, check and correct incorrect information, offer your time to help with managing data, and tell your friends and colleagues to do the same. That’s all the help this platform needs to be a useful and powerful tool for rescuing and helping citizens affected by the floods or any future situation that could demand an urgent and massive organization of aid activities in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
